The Youth Wave Project is a 3 week-long event, taking place from the 5th to the 28th of July, 2021. Together with the Regional Volunteer Centre in Gdańsk and the European Solidarity Corps, we will welcome 40 volunteers from across Europe to join us for the event. Throughout the 3 weeks we will explore topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
YOUTH WAVE PROJECT
During our three weeks together, we will create a wave of change! Our time on the project will be divided into three different parts:
- welcome and training,
- Scouts and Guides summer camps,
- visit Gdańsk and the Youth Wave Summit.
Through raising awareness of the UN SDGs among young Guides and Scouts, and the citizens of Gdańsk, and encouraging them to think about ways they can work on the goals within their own communities, you will become a real changemaker.
PROGRAMME
The first week will be spent getting to know each other and taking part in trainings that will help us prepare for the rest of the project. You will take part in workshops where you will explore the objectives of the sustainable development goals, interculturality, and have the chance to learn some basic Polish. Over the week you will gain the knowledge and skills you need to run your activities during the next two weeks, and find out which volunteers you’ll be working alongside.
During the second week, you will visit Polish Guides and Scouts at their summer camps and share the activities about the UN SDGs you have prepared during the first week. While on camp, you and your team will deliver three full days of activities, and get the opportunity to visit another camp and share your activities with more groups! When you’re not delivering activities, you will have the chance to discover Polish Guiding and Scouting, through joining them in their typical camp activities.
You’ll spend your last week visiting Gdańsk, the capital of solidarity. While you’re there you will have the opportunity to take part in lots of different activities! Including running workshops for local people, biking through the city, sailing, hiking, and activities that promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Some of the volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in the smooth running of the Youth Wave Summit, a virtual international event taking place from 23th to 25th of July 2021.
